We Are Ready To Assist You

It is currently being reported that Domestic Violence is rising on a significant basis across Australia in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

Unfortunately, this is not surprising in these circumstances.

Many of the typical causes of domestic violence are particularly exacerbated in the current environment. Large numbers of people are currently experiencing severe pressures, financial and otherwise, which they would not typically have experienced. This can cause the breakdown of relationships and an increase in volatile and aggressive behaviour.

Domestic violence is also typically characterised by coercive control, whereby the abusive party will isolate, monitor and restrict the actions of the other party. In the current environment, it is easier than ever for abusive partners to assert this control.

What You Can Do

If you are in immediate danger, you should contact the police for assistance.

In addition to the police, there are a number of organisations which are able to offer assistance for those suffering from domestic violence. A list of these organisations can be found here.

Importantly, you are not required to remain in an abusive environment and should not feel as though you have no options simply due to the COVID-19 crisis. There are support networks and organisations that are able to help.
